Women's Pavilion

General Information:

Prenatal Classes:
Henrico Doctors' Hospital has elected to provide free comprehensive prenatal education classes to meet your busy lifestyle. Classes are taught on-site or at the Henrico Doctors' Hospital Education Center, nearby at 8002 Discovery Drive. Classes are taught by Women's Pavilion staff nurses. Please call 320-3627 to register.

Lobby:

Labor & Delivery:

  • Nursing support for your choice of birth options
  • Secured unit for the safety of our patients and their babies
  • LDR's for laboring, delivering, and high risk antepartum patients
  • Fetal monitoring with centralized viewing at nurses' station

  • Cesarean section/delivery rooms
  • Twenty-four hour anesthesia and neonatology coverage
  • A special tub is available for use during labor

Postpartum:

  • Beautifully decorated rooms
  • Vital statistics clerk to file birth certificate and application for social security number

  • Open visitation 9am-9pm. Significant other after 9pm.
  • Lactation Consultant-breastfeeding class 3 days/week, breastfeeding assistance, lactation center with warm-line for calls. Follow-up appointments for breastfeeding assistance available.
  • Postpartum breastfeeding support group

Newborn Nursery:
Our staff's primary responsibility is to care for your baby, and provide you with basic knowledge to enable you to care for you newborn.

  • Admission nursery for initial assessment of newborn
  • Family centered care allows baby to stay with mom as much as she desires
  • Patient Education Coordinator provides the area's only bath & baby care class while you are in the hospital
  • Follow-up phone call to check on how you and your baby are doing at home.

Progressive Care Nursery (PCN),
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU):

  • 33 bed unit
  • Level II & Level III care
  • 24 hour in house Neonatologist coverage
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Bonding/Breastfeeding rooms
  • Latest technologies
  • Parents welcome 24 hours
  • All RN staff, with low nurse/patient ratio

Pediatrics:

  • 16 bed unit with bright sunny rooms

OB-GYN Unit:
Our women's specialty unit is for GYN post-op patients, high risk antepartum patients, and postpartum patients

  • All private rooms
  • Fetal monitoring with centralized viewing at nurse's station if you require hospitalization during pregnancy
