Women's Pavilion

Specialized Care For Women
A woman's life is marked by transitions at home and at work. Changes that are both physical and emotional, that give her life greater meaning.

At Henrico Doctors' Hospital, we respect these changes, and we're here to respond to your changing needs through every stage of your life.

Over 3,000 women trust us each year when it comes time for them to have their babies. And with our Family Plan, they receive a package of benefits for expectant families, automatically. Others turn to us for free prenatal or postpartum classes or for gynecological care. Still others rely on our skill and experience in providing breast health care and reconstructive surgery.

Physicians affiliated with our hospital provide a wide range of surgical and other infertility services. They include in vitro fertilization, laser laparoscopic surgery, ovulation induction, male factor infertility, and endometriosis and fibroid treatments.

Yes, our women's and children's services here in Central Virginia are comprehensive. And at Henrico Doctors' Hospital, that's one thing you can count on never changing.

Women's Pavilion

The Women's Pavilion was a pioneer in providing care for women and children. Today, thousands of Richmond women still trust us for their care. In fact, we deliver nearly 3,000 babies each year.

This experience, combined with a board-certified on-staff perinatologist, enables us to handle some of the highest risk pregnancies in central Virginia. No wonder, then, that we were chosen to deliver Virginia's first quintuplets, late in 1997.

We also provide an on-staff lactation consultant who can provide expert advice on breastfeeding during or after your stay with us.

Henrico Doctors' was the first community hospital in central Virginia to offer a Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This 17-bassinet area is staffed by neonatologists, on hand around the clock to care for our most critical newborns. In 2001, we have expanded our Progressive Care Nursery (PCN) to a 16-bassinet unit, for babies who no longer require intensive care. By expanding the Progressive Care Nursery, and thus freeing up space in the NICU, we are better able to provide the space and time necessary to ensure that these babies go home to their families fully prepared and healthy. The additional PCN bed space also provides doctors and nurses the opportunity to transfer infants from the NICU to the intermediate care unit, thereby freeing up additional NICU space and avoiding preterm labor diversion.

We continue to care for your children long after they're newborns. Our 16-bed pediatric unit is staffed by specially trained professionals who have been handling young patients' surgical and general medical needs since the early 90s. This child-oriented environment will help put your child at ease should you ever need to pay us a visit.

For you, we have a dedicated women's cancer unit and an OB-GYN Specialty Unit to care for you before and after a high-risk pregnancy, or after you've had gynecological or reconstructive surgery.

The Women's Special Care Unit takes care of women with cancer and addresses their medical, surgical, emotional, and, when necessary, their end-of-life needs.
