The Cafeteria is located on the ground floor, Level 1. Family members and guests may also request to have a meal tray delivered to the patient's room. Subway, adjacent to the cafeteria, is open weekdays from 9:00am-12:00midnight, and weekends from 11:30am-10:00pm. In addition, vending machines are located in the Cafeteria, across from Preadmissions Testing, and in the Emergency Room waiting area.
Pastoral Care
The services of a chaplain are available to patients and their families at any time upon request or referral. Area clergy of various denominations and faiths assist the hospital chaplain in providing emotional and spiritual support.
The nondemominational Prayer Room, located just across from the ICU Waiting Room on the second floor of the Heart Pavilion, is open 24 hours a day for patients and visitors.
Gift Shop
The Gift Shop is located in the main lobby. A variety of gift items, candy, magazines and books are available. Because the Gift Shop is staffed by volunteers, hours may vary, but it is usually open seven days a week as follows:
Weekdays: 8:30 - 8:00 (closed 12:00 - 12:30 & 4:00 - 4:30)
Saturdays: 10:00 - 4:00
Sundays: 1:00 - 5:00
A Gift Shop cart usually visits patient rooms on weekday mornings.
Interpreters/Hearing Impaired
The hospital has interpreters for many foreign languages. This service can be arranged through the Nursing Staffing Office for patients who need this assistance. Patients who are hearing impaired or need to communicate with a hearing impaired relative or friend, may contact their nurse to request a telecommunications device. Arrangements can also be made to have a person who uses sign language help a hearing impaired or deaf patient.
Reading Service/Vision Impaired
The hospital makes the broadcast of the Virginia Voice audio reading service available on television channel 14. Patients with low vision or physical disabilities that prevent them from reading can listen to broadcast readings of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, local newspapers and magazines, and national periodicals.
